I say that it’s a wine that’s fine for a certain budget, and that I’m happy to drink it. I’m happy to drink many other things, too.

Thank you for your thoughts and for the wine thief information. You seem to take offense at my post, and that's too bad. It wasn't intended to offend.

I can't find where in my post I say that Charles Shaw wine offers all that I want in a wine or even compare it specifically to other wines; I say that it's a wine that's fine for a certain budget, and that I'm happy to drink it. I'm happy to drink many other things, too.

In any case, I try not base my opinion on the social status of something. Design-wise, it's interesting to compare to a Twinkie to a fine pastry. I've made intricate charlotte-style pastries for which I have to bake a thin sponge cake, and then cut it into shapes so that it lines a cylindrical mold. It is then filled with stabilized cream. Twinkies are also made of sponge cake and stabilized cream, but they have managed to make the sponge cake into a continuous element because the cream is injected through small holes. Charlottes have declined as a popular pastry, but the Twinkie seems to be carrying on its tradition.

It is called a wine thief. They are a common piece of wine making equipment used around the world.

Keep working on your wine tasting abilities. One day you will realize there is more to wine than "Two Buck Chuck" has to offer. It's like comparing a "Twinkie" to a fine pastry.
