The rum and amaretto combination sounds so good!

Yes, I use an over thermometer, and have since learned that my oven temperature can fluctuate wildly, especially after food is put into the oven -- the temperature can jump 50 degrees! So, I like to monitor it and adjust it without opening the door too often. My old oven used to have a window through which I could see the thermometer, but I don't have that capability with my current one.

Hope the cake turned out deliciously!

I felt very comfortable with your recipe. I saw her make it on PBS and knew that I would have to make it. It came out beautifully, but I might have gotten mine a little over done, too. I set the timer for 20 minutes. I will let you know how it comes out when we eat it tomorrow.
I used 1 Tbsp rum and 1 Tbsp amaretto for the cake and the two crumbs I got tasted amazing.
Do you use an oven thermometer?

Thanks. :) I wish I could mail it -- having this much rich cake in a single apartment is dangerous. :)
