Work
I’ve just started working in food production with Special Events at the school. I probably won’t talk about it much b/c the former law student/film industry worker in me is hypersensitive to confidentiality issues (esp of employment), but I just wanted to share because I think that it will be a very good part of a culinary education. I’ve actually never been too enthusiastic about academic environments, so I like that I have a position at least halfway to the professional world of baking. And I feel comfortable enough now with my work to think that some people may actually want to pay for it, and even include it as part of their very own special event. I worked in a cafe in high school doing some light food preparation, but this is my first full food prep gig… and that’ll be what it’s all about when I graduate in August. Already, I’m learning so much.
I’ll also be a bit busier, so apologies if my correspondence is even slower than usual… b/c this is the first job in a long time where I’m not at a computer all day!

Thanks. But yeah, I don’t think it’s really necessary to have this kind of job very soon after school starts anyway — especially if you already have a job (that probably pays way better!). I was planning on waiting until about July to find something, but I happened to hear about this opening now.
