Chocolateapprentice - Still working on it everyday, in one form or another... while taking advantage of the lovely summer produce.

Aaron - Ooh, roasted corn ice cream sounds great! I forgot to write how much I actually like the ice cream. Every bite reminds me biting into a fresh cob, with an almost buttery aroma and without the fear of getting kernels stuck in my teeth. I'll have to try roasting it next time.

And there's something about the flavor of egg yolks -- and esp their aftertaste -- that just rarely agrees with my taste buds, esp when it's sweetened for desserts. Maybe something with the sulfur. So I get particularly sensitive to it when the dessert is about another flavor but that egg yolk flavor creeps in -- like in ice cream. The texture they give is also a little too rich for me. I tend to stay away from custards as much as possible.

I like cream a lot more (and have been known take occ'l sips of it), so I'm more ok with that sharing the flavor in the ice cream.
