G - Oh, I thought I read that the 10 outdoor stalls had produce now, but I guess not.

I only ever went to the Saturday market on the first day it opened for the season and caught the end of the Downtown market once.... Neither was a good representation, I don't think.... Sigh..... Too bad when I visit in the future, I most likely won't be able to cook from the markets up there...

Fatted Calf bacon is indeed excellent. At Oxbow, there's one inside vendor with veggies, but there's also farmer's markets in the COPIA parking lot on Wednesday and Saturday. I only ever saw one produce table on the walkway alongside Oxbow--and that was mixed citrus when the market was first open. I don't know if the Wednesday/Saturday market is the "permanent" market. Downtown Chef's Market is Thursday evening now, rather than Friday.

Mandy - Thanks! I hadn't considered La Canada Flintridge (in fact, I just mapped). It is a little far out, but if other markets don't have room, I might just give it a shot.

And yeah, not to make you jealous, but we're swimming in stone fruit right now! BUT I hear that Seattle gets a lot of rhubarb, which is difficult to find here in good quality, let alone locally grown... so I do envy you that!

Bek - Thank you! And yeah.... as much as I love the markets down here, sometimes I wish I could pop over to either of those markets... And omg, Oxbow Market opened in Napa, with a Fatted Calf store! If I still lived there, I'd have gained 10 pounds from their bacon alone. And I think I heard that there will be/is a permanent farmers market there, too.

La Canada Flintridge ("home", where I haven't lived in almost 5 years...) is a nice community with a Saturday market. It's relatively affluent, so your gourmet wares might appeal to the shoppers there. I don't know what the current status of the market is, but they are putting in a "town center" and I think that they will likely expand the market too. But it is a drive from central LA.

I would kill for local CA produce right now. Yes, things are finally coming in up here in Seattle (stupid weather...), but it doesn't hold a candle to the year-round bounty of SoCal...

May you be "the belle of the ball" at Century City! ;)

Congratulations on getting into your first farmers market. I look forward to reading your observations from the vendor's side of the stall.
